Buzzard Swamp in Western Pennsylvania is both hunting grounds and wildlife preserve. A restricted area has signs claiming “Wildlife propagation area. Keep out!” Along the edge of this section are a healthy stand of Milkweed and a remarkable number of feasting butterflies. They are shown here on the milkweed, top to bottom: tiger Swallowtail, Monarch, Karner Blue, Two Great Spangled Fritillaries (R) and a Red-Spotted Purple. The paper cuts are made of French papers and the backing paper is a fine mulberry paper from Japan, no longer made.
