From the "Little Birds" series—10x8" original charcoal drawing.Nuthatches are "upside-down birds", so I chose to draw this red-breasted one just like that. Less common than the white-breasted, I always get excited when these little cuties are at the bird feeder. The art is presented on a gesso panel mounted to 3/4” New Zealand pine. The image area is highly textured and details are scratched into the dry and liquid charcoal. After a splash of metallic bronze acrylic, the art is sealed with an archival fixative for a dramatic, frameless presentation. Ready to hang as is, or framed as desired.
