Artwork is on display at Painted Finch Gallery in Corry, PA. Call (814) 664-3053 to inquire. Larger than life, (see second photo) the monarch reigns over the field enjoying its favorite meal and egg-laying host, the common milkweed. Newly added to the endangered species list, this piece has sentimental significance. Hard to imagine the ubiquitous butterfly of my youth has lost 90% of its numbers in recent years. The paper sculpture is of rock paper with translucent vellum colors and the plant is multiple layers of archival papers, including some lovely shades of Mi Teintes, a favorite French paper.
