From the "Little Birds" series—10x8" original charcoal drawing.
These large raptors are not found in our area but live in desert lowlands out west. I had a chance to see this captive bird that was being trained in falconry.  They are sleek and elegant, dark overall, with lighter shoulder patches, which I have indicated with a metallic accent. This series is presented on gesso panels mounted to 3/4” New Zealand pine. The image area is highly textured and details are scratched into the dry and liquid charcoal. After a splash of metallic bronze acrylic, the art is sealed with an archival fixative for a dramatic, frameless presentation. Ready to hang as is, or framed as desired.
