An experiment in Moroccan geometry inspired by a Guild of American Papercutters workshop by Laurie Moorhead led to this exotic background. As I cut the fussy straight lines, I wondered what kind of wildlife lives in Morocco? Macaques, hedgehogs, crested porcupines and varies other creatures—wow, a diverse ecosystem! It was the Moorish Wall Gecko that seemed an appropriate addition to this piece. Here in New York, I have created many salamanders, this is my first lizard.
